Modders have updated how characters look and added higher resolution textures, among other. Mods, including quest mods, just love to add random player homes in the weirdest locations (looking at you, LotD). Yet instinctive vanilla locations that would make great homes just aren't used. To mention a few: Bromjunaar Sanctuary, Goldenglow Estate, Blackreach citadel and the Throat of the World.
